Version history
Every change to your app is saved as a version. Compare versions, bookmark the good ones, undo one change or restore an earlier version.
Kuika AI saves every meaningful change to your app as a version, automatically. You can look at an old version, compare it with the current one, undo a single change, or take the whole app back to an earlier point. Nothing is lost, because going back creates a new version instead of erasing the newer ones.
Open version history
Select Version history in the top bar of the builder. You see a list with the newest version first. Each row shows a number like V12 and what created it:
| Label | What happened |
|---|---|
| AI build | Kuika AI built or continued your app |
| Chat edit | You asked for a change in chat |
| Visual edit | You used click-to-edit on the preview |
| Code edit | You edited a file by hand in the code view |
| Checkpoint | You saved this point yourself |
| Restore / Undo | You went back to an earlier state |
The newest one is marked Current. A version marked Broken did not pass Kuika AI's checks. Open Details on a row to see the prompt, the summary and the files that changed.
Look at an old version
Select Preview on a row. The app shows that version as read-only, and nothing is written back. Pick a file to read its code, or choose Run this version to try it out in the browser.
Compare with the current version
While previewing, select Compare with current to see what changed, line by line. Files that were added after that version are marked, so you know what restoring would remove. Select Hide comparison to close it.
Go back to an earlier version
- Find the version in the list.
- Select Restore (or Restore this version while previewing).
- Confirm.
The app returns to that version. Files added after it are deleted. Newer versions stay in the list, so you can come forward again if you change your mind.
Undo one change
Sometimes you only want to remove a single change, not everything after it. Open the row's menu and choose Undo only this change. If later changes touched the same files, or the change touched the data model, Kuika AI asks you to use Restore instead. If undoing would break the app, nothing changes.
Bookmarks and checkpoints
- Bookmark a version with the bookmark button on its row. Turn on Bookmarked only to see just those.
- Select Create checkpoint to name the current state, for example "Before the pricing rework". You can add a note. You can rename or delete versions later from the row's menu.
Code view and autosave
If you edit files by hand in the code view, your work is kept as a draft that comes back if you close the tab. Kuika AI saves it for you after you stop typing, and only when your preview compiled without errors. You can also press Ctrl + S (Cmd + S on Mac). The draft becomes a Code edit version when you send a chat message, publish, share or export the app.
Only one person edits an app at a time. If someone else holds the edit lock, take it over before saving. See Chat editing for more on how changes are made.
