Database and data panel

Every Kuika AI app gets its own database. Browse and edit rows, run SQL, design tables, import CSV and keep backups from the Database view.

Every app Kuika AI builds comes with its own database, created automatically. You do not set anything up. Open the Database view to see your tables, edit rows, run SQL and manage backups.

What you get

When Kuika AI builds your app, it describes your tables, columns and relationships for you. It also adds a few demo rows so lists and calendars are not empty on first open. These rows are demo data only, never live data.

To change the data model, just ask in the chat.

The Database view

Pick Database at the top of the builder. Here you can:

  • Browse tables. See them as cards or as a relationship diagram (switch with Cards and Diagram). Open a table to see its Rows and its Schema.
  • Edit rows. Use Add row, Edit row and Delete row. Changes to a running app ask you to confirm first.
  • Search. Type in Search rows… to find a row in the table.
  • Design a table. Press New table, name it, add columns and press Create table.
  • Run SQL. Open the SQL console for queries. Changes that could be risky ask for confirmation.
  • Import CSV. Press Import CSV, choose a file, match its columns to the table's columns, check the preview of the first 5 rows, then press Import.
  • Export CSV. Press Export CSV to download the rows loaded in the grid. It downloads the rows currently loaded, not always the whole table.

Data stays when the schema changes

When you ask Kuika AI for a change, such as a new column, your existing rows are kept.

  • New tables and columns are added.
  • If a column changes type, the rows are kept and the values are converted.
  • If one column disappears and another appears in the same change, Kuika AI treats it as a rename and moves the values over.
  • Removed tables and columns are dropped. Kuika AI tells you in one sentence which data was removed or converted.

Backups and restore

In the preview, your data lives in your browser and is kept per person. Someone else opening the project does not see your preview data. To keep a safe copy on the server, use Backups:

  1. Open Backups in the Database view.
  2. Press Back up now for a backup right away. Kuika AI also makes Automatic backup entries as you work.
  3. To keep a specific moment, type a name and press Take snapshot.
  4. Press Restore on a snapshot, or Restore last backup to go back to the latest one.

Reset data wipes the preview data and rebuilds the tables from scratch. It asks you to confirm first.

File uploads

Your app can accept uploads, such as profile pictures or receipts, without anything extra to set up. Files can be up to 25 MB. You can choose who may open a file: anyone, any signed-in user, or only the person who uploaded it.

Files you upload for Kuika AI itself, such as images and documents the AI should use, live in the Files view.

For data in a database that already exists, see External databases.
