Test and production
Publish your app to a Test environment with its own database and a web address you can share, then learn what production adds in company setups.
Press Publish to put your app on a Test environment: a live HTTPS address with its own database, separate from your preview data. Anyone you give the address to sees the same data. Production is a second, separate environment that is available in company setups.
Preview, Test and Production
Your preview runs in your own browser with your own data. That is great for building, but nobody else can use it. A server environment fixes that.
| Preview | Test | Production | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Where it runs | Your browser | Kuika AI's servers | Kuika AI's servers |
| Data | Yours only | Its own database | Its own database |
| Who can open it | You | Anyone with the address | Anyone with the address |
| Available | Always | Always | If your organization has it enabled |
Test and Production share no data and no code. Publishing to one never touches the other.
Publish to Test
- Open Publish in the top bar (or press Ctrl+Shift+P, Cmd+Shift+P on a Mac).
- On the Test tab, press Publish to Test.
- Watch the progress bar: Queued, Building, Uploading, Rolling out, Waiting for health.
- When the status says Live, copy the address and share it.
A publish is a snapshot. Later chat edits reach Test only after you press Update Test. Until then the card shows Changes pending.
What you get on the Test tab
- Address and QR code. Copy the HTTPS address or show a QR code to open it on a phone.
- Log. See what happened during the last publish.
- Version history. Open History to see earlier versions and use Roll back to go to one. Only the app's code goes back, not its data.
- Changes since last deploy. See which screens, tables and files changed.
- Reset data. Wipe the Test database and fill it with sample data again. You type
resetto confirm.
Good to know
- Test sleeps when nobody uses it. The first visit wakes it, which can take up to two minutes. Wake Test starts it ahead of time.
- Unused environments are removed. If nobody republishes for a while, Kuika AI deletes the environment. The card warns you first, and publishing again keeps it alive.
- Data model changes reset test data. If you changed tables, Kuika AI asks you to confirm before the update.
- The same menu shows your security scan. Run it before you publish. See Security scan.
Production (in company setups)
Production is for the real, live version of your app on your own company address. It is a beta feature: it works only if your organization has it enabled, and it is turned on by Kuika for your organization.
If your organization has it, you get:
- Publish to Production from the Production tab. It can promote exactly the version that is live on Test, with no new build.
- Its own history, log and rollback. There is no data reset on Production, so customer data is never wiped by accident.
- Production only from Test. A switch that allows only versions that were tested first.
- A custom domain. Add an address such as
app.yourcompany.com, add the two DNS records Kuika AI shows you, then press Verify. A TLS certificate is issued for you automatically. - Database choice at publish time.
Without a verified domain the button stays disabled and the card says Select a domain first.
