Data and users · Lesson 2/3
Add sign-in and roles
New Kuika AI apps come with sign-in included. Learn what you get, how to describe roles in plain words and where to manage users and permissions.
7 min read
Goal: understand the sign-in your app already has and set up roles that match how your team works.
What you will do
- See what sign-in features come with a new app
- Describe roles in a prompt
- Manage users and roles under Users & access
What is already there
Every new app includes a full account system. You do not need to ask for it:
- Registration with email and password, with email verification
- Forgot and reset password
- Optional two-step verification with an authenticator app
- Screens that require a signed-in user by default
If your app should have no accounts at all, say so in the prompt, for example "a personal checklist without sign-in".
Describe roles in plain words
A role is a group of people who can do the same things. Describe roles by what people can see and do, not by technical permissions. Kuika AI turns your sentences into permissions on the app's data and screens.
There are three roles. Members can view the catalog and place orders. Staff can also update order status. Admins can do everything, including managing products and users. New sign-ups get the Member role.
Steps
- Send your roles in the chat, like the prompt above.
- Open More › Users & access. The Roles tab shows each role and what it is allowed to do. You can rename or duplicate a role there.
- Open the Users tab to see the accounts, assign a role or suspend an account. Use the environment switch to look at the preview or the Test environment, where your real users sign up. You can select several users and act on them together.
- Check Sign-in & policy for settings such as whether people can sign up themselves and whether two-step verification is required.
- Look at Activity to see recent changes to users, roles and sign-in settings, and who made them.
Check yourself
- Do you need to ask Kuika AI to add a sign-in screen to a new app?
- How would you make a new sign-up get a basic role automatically?
- Where do you change the role of an existing user?
Next lesson: See the app as each role.
