Data and users · Lesson 3/3
See the app as each role
Use Preview as to look at your app through the eyes of each role, catch screens or data that should be hidden, and fix them with one chat message.

Goal: make sure every role sees exactly what it should, before real people use the app.
What you will do
- Switch the preview to another role with Preview as
- Walk through the app as that person
- Fix anything that shows too much
Why this matters
You built the app as yourself, with full access. Your users will not have that. A screen that looks fine to you might show a member someone else's order, or hide a button a staff member needs. Preview as lets you check without creating test accounts.
Steps
- Open Preview as in the preview tools. You see "Full access", "Signed out" and each role of your app.
- Pick the lowest role, for example Member. The preview redraws as that person sees it.
- Visit every screen. Look at the menu, the lists and the detail pages. Try the actions this role should and should not be able to do.
- Pick "Signed out" and check which pages are public.
- Fix what you find with a short chat message, then check again with the same role.
- Go back to Full access when you are done.
Members must only see their own orders, never other members' orders. Hide the Products admin page from members and staff.
Check yourself
- Which roles did you check, and did any screen surprise you?
- What does the app show to someone who is signed out?
- How do you return to your own full view?
You finished the course. Publish the app to the Test environment and invite a colleague to try each role for real.
