Plan mode, explained

Plan mode lets you see and change what Kuika AI is about to build before it starts. What it shows, when to use it and how it works for both new apps and later changes.

Plan mode is a simple promise: Kuika AI shows you what it is going to build, and nothing starts until you approve. It is on by default when you start a new app from the home page, and you can switch it on for any later change too.

Why plan first

When you describe an app, you leave things out. Everyone does. Can a rejected request be sent again? Does a customer see past orders? Is the price with or without tax? A builder that starts right away has to guess, and you find the guesses later, inside a finished app.

Plan mode moves that moment to the start, where a fix costs one sentence.

What happens in Plan mode

1. A few quick decisions. Kuika AI looks at your prompt and asks short questions about what you left open. They come one at a time, each with a handful of options, and one option is often marked as recommended. You can pick with the number keys. If you do not care about a question, press "Decide for me". If you do not care about any of them, press "Leave all to me".

2. The plan. Kuika AI then writes the plan and shows it in a few clear parts:

  • Screens: every page the app will have
  • Data: what the app stores and how the pieces connect
  • Colour palette: the look it is going for
  • User flow: how people move through the app
  • Heads up: anything Kuika AI wants you to notice before it starts

3. Your changes. Read it like a brief from a colleague. If something is missing or wrong, write it in the chat: "Add an archive page for closed requests." Kuika AI updates the plan. Repeat as often as you like.

4. Your approval. When it looks right, press "Create the app". Kuika AI builds it and you watch the screens appear in the live preview.

Plan mode for later changes

Plan mode is not only for the first build. In an existing app, switch it on before a bigger request, such as a new module or a change to how approvals work. Kuika AI drafts a plan for that change, with the steps it will take and the parts of the app it will touch. You can open the full plan, refine it by replying in the chat, and then press "Build this plan". If you change your mind, press "Discard".

Each refinement is kept as a new version of the plan, so you can look back at what changed.

When to switch it off

For small, clear changes, Plan mode adds a step you do not need. "Change the button text to Send request" or "add a phone field to the contact form" are better sent straight away. Many people keep Plan mode on for anything that touches data or rules and switch it off for quick fixes.

A good prompt still helps

Plan mode catches what is missing, but it works best when you start with a clear description. Name the people, what each one does, the information the app keeps and the rules it must follow.

Build an equipment loan app for a school. Teachers request a laptop, a projector or a camera for specific dates. The IT team approves requests, marks items as handed out and returned, and sees which items are overdue. Teachers see their own requests and get an email the day before an item is due back.

Try it with Plan mode on and see which questions Kuika AI asks. They are usually the questions you would have run into a week later.

What will you build today?

Describe it in a sentence. Kuika AI does the rest.

Press Enter to build, Shift + Enter for a new line. You will review it in Kuika AI before anything starts.
